In the summer of 2011, Reservoir Geeks heard of the financial hardships that had fallen upon the motel used in Wes Anderson's directorial debut, Bottle Rocket, and decided to do what they could to help. The SAVE THE BOTTLE ROCKET MOTEL event was conceived and successfully executed on July 9th 2011 with more than 200 fans in attendance.
Every summer since fans (or Bottle Rocketeers) have come to spend an evening at the Bottle Rocket Motel (Days Inn - Hillsboro) filled with laughs, libations, and like-minded people celebrating a film that launched a fandom.
On September 12th join us for our 5th year at the Award-Winning LOVELY SOIREE at the BOTTLE ROCKET MOTEL!
In 1996, Wes Anderson made his directorial debut with the feature film Bottle Rocket. A large majority of the movie took place at the Windmill Inn in Hillsboro, Texas.
Due to the economic downturn the motel's business suffered, thus the Save The Bottle Rocket Motel event was conceived and became reality in July of 2011.
After what could only be described as a success (full success) there was no denying that this magical evening had to be repeated and it has been with an annual affair, now dubbed The Lovely Soiree.
So pull on your yellow jumpsuit, pop the clutch on your moped or grab the VW Bus keys from Apple Jack, and head to Hillsboro, Texas to be a part of the best night of film fandom (in a city north of Waco and south of Dallas).
