As we are sure you are aware, we are pretty big fans of Wes Anderson's films, top of the list for us being Bottle Rocket. A huge thing we love to do to honor that film is visit the filming locations and every summer throw a big party at the motel used in the filming (now dubbed the Bottle Rocket Motel).
We've been to Hinkley Cold Storage (now Texas Ice House), the street where Anthony and Dignan argue as to why they didn't rob Dignan's mom and Craig and the various spots around Hillsboro, TX (Gas Station, Alley and obviously the Motel).
There is one place we dare not bother, though. The Frank Lloyd Wright house used as the Mapplethorpe residence. The house is still somebody's actual home and respect to their privacy is a must... Plus they do not seem too keen on visitors, as reported by one fan on our Facebook page.
Here is the home as it appeared in Bottle Rocket:
Luckily, the house was featured in an article on the website Architecturally Significant Homes (yes that is a real website) a few years back and featured plenty of pictures of the home and it's unique design.
Though there were no pictures of the kitchen on the website, we can suppose that it is even more magnificent then featured in the film. After all, Bob was an asshole and that kitchen was apparently quite nice...
